Herndon's Lodge On The Lake

This is a house rental only. Come and relax in a lakefront paradise. Lake views from all bedrooms and sunroom. Enjoy dinner overlooking the lake and walking along the beach afterwards. You can sit and watch the sunset either on the porch on the patio with a fire to keep you warm. Watch the stars come out and count the falling ones. Be sure and look out for the eagles soaring along the lakefront. Listen to the birds as they sing their songs to the waking day. There are plenty of trees to sit under and picnic or just rest. Take a nature walk through our paths and check out the wildlife. If you are lucky you might see a deer, definitely go tracking and find their hoof prints as they walked by.

For the hunters in your life, there is plenty of hunting areas less than a mile from our Lodge. If you are lucky enough to bag one, we are happy to get a photo for our wall. My husband loves to hunt, but I think he enjoys the time out watching the deer instead of shooting them! He rarely brings one back, but always happy to have spent time sitting out in the cold watching.

For those who love to eat and not want to cook, be sure to check out the many restaurants available on the island. There is something for everyones palate! Dessert is always a favorite and the ice cream here is wonderful. Too make up for the dessert a bike ride is always on the list. Ride down to Glacial Grooves or over to the State Park. There are many historical sites the island has to offer.

Our lodge has four bedrooms. The master has a king size bed and separate bathroom. There is also a queen size bed, another king size bed and then two twin beds. We also have a sunroom that has a day bed if you happen to need a nap overlooking the lake. A full kitchen is provided for those who want to cook.

One thing I need to mention, please bring water socks for swimming in the lake. The lake bottom is limestone and has pepples and occasional shells that cause slipping in the water.

We added a treehouse! Photos have been added. We allow 8 years and older in the treehouse with adult supervision. This is mainly for adults but the kids want to check it out and we allow that. Under 8 it is probably not safe. Just ask us if you have questions. Safety is our concern.

We do not allow weddings, reunions, or bachelor/bachelorette groups. Our home is for enjoyment and recreation without disturbing surrounding homes. We are located on the property as well because of rules set for our renting. If anything goes wrong or you have questions, we are available.

We provide corn hole and volleyball. THE TREEHOUSE IS AVAILABLE FOR 8 & older WITH MANDATORY SUPERVISION! All water activities with canoe MUST USE LIFEJACKETS! Wood available for both fireplace and outside grill. Bringing wood to the island is BANNED! Please do NOT bring firewood.
